Lifeguard – Shallow Water 2-Day Certification

Description

Lifeguard Certification – Shallow Water provides entry-level participants the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies in water up to 7 feet, and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergency injuries and sudden illnesses until EMS personnel take over.

The Lifeguard Certification – Shallow Water course includes an online portion that takes approximately 5-6 hours to complete. The online content MUST be completed prior to the certification course start date. Failure to complete the online content may result in a non-refundable cancellation. $275.00

Parents may pay for their child’s tuition but you must include your child’s first and last name, phone number, and email address to issue a valid certification.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

• Requests made before 48 hours of start time may be canceled with a refund. A $25.00 processing fee will be applied to the refund. Refunds are not issued for cancellations made within 48 hours of the start time.
• If a class does not have sufficient enrollment, ClubSport reserves the right to cancel the course, up to 48 hours in advance. Refunds will be issued via check or the participant may transfer to another available course date.
• Refunds will not be issued for failure to pass the prerequisite skills; we recommend practicing these skills before signing up for the course. Participants who do not pass the pre-qualification test may transfer to the next available course date and re-take the course.
• Refunds will not be issued for failure to complete the online content, including for those who sign up 48 hours or less before the course start date. In case of technological difficulties that impede completion, participants may transfer to the next available course date or receive a refund.
• Participants may receive a refund, course credit for a future course, or transfer to the next available course date in cases of unanticipated illness and injury.

Prerequisites

1. Minimum Age: 15 years
2. Swim-Tread-Swim Sequence which involves swimming 50 yards continuously using the front crawl, breaststroke, or a combination of both, treading water for 2 minutes using only your legs, then swimming 50 yards using the front crawl, breaststroke, or a combination of both
3. Complete a timed event within 50 seconds by starting in the water swimming 20 yards (swim goggles are not allowed), surface diving to a depth of 4 to 7 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object, returning to the surface, and walking or swimming 20 yards on your back to return to the starting point holding the object at the surface with both hands and keeping your face at the surface, then exiting the water without using steps or a ladder.
4. Participants who successfully complete the Lifeguarding course receive an American Red Cross certificate for Shallow Water Lifeguarding with Waterpark Lifeguarding and First Aid/CPR/AED valid for 2 years.
5. All minors are required to complete our waiver in advance. Must be presented at the time of class. Click here to download the waiver.

Online Content

The online content MUST be completed prior to the Lifeguard Certification course start date. Failure to complete the online content may result in a non-refundable cancellation. Please see the Cancellation & Refund Policy section for more information.

• The online content arrives directly via the American Red Cross and may appear in a spam folder.
• Please contact Zoe Tomlinson via email if you are unable to locate or access the link. The American Red Cross tech support team can also assist with obtaining access.
• The online portion takes approximately 5-6 hours to complete.
• The online portion must be completed before the first day of the course. It is recommended to screenshot progress at the end of each module in case of technological difficulties.

Lifeguard – Shallow Water 1-Day Re-Certification

Description

Lifeguard Shallow Water Re-Certification can be achieved with Lifeguarding Review classes that refresh your knowledge and skills and update your certification for another two years. To participate in the Lifeguard Shallow Water Review class you must have a current certification, or certification expired by no more than 30 days. There is an online portion that must be finished prior to the in-person session.
